PHARMACEUTICAL PROCESSING | SEPTEMBER 2015 9 ■
Prexima is IMA Active’s new tablet press machine, with features that include:
• Complete separation between processing and mechanical areas thanks to the use of pur-
posely designed seals and protections.
• The processing area is fully accessible once the external doors are opened, while access to
the machine basement is required only for maintenance.
• Compression support is based on three columns linked together by two strong cast iron
structures. The compression rollers are incorporated within the two cast iron structures and supported on both sides.
Booklet-Label for Folding Carton Exterior
In a joint project with packaging manufacturer Edelmann, Schreiner MediPharm has developed a solution that makes important product information accessible on the exterior of
folding cartons. The new solution, which eliminates the need for pharmacists or consumers to first open a package before obtaining detailed product information, meets related
requirements of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive 2011/62/EU. To eliminate the need
for the package’s opening, Schreiner MediPharm worked with Germany-based Edelmann
to create a solution combining a folding box with a Booklet-Label applied to the outside.
Applied to the outer packaging, the multi-page Booklet-Label adheres to folding cartons
and is easy to open and close again via a top layer of film that serves as a cover. The
Booklet-Label also is equipped with a security color-shifting ink for integrated protection
New Generation Insertion Turbine Flowmeters
Titan Enterprise's innovative insertion turbine flowmeters combine robust technology with modern
materials and design. The Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) turbine on insertion turbines rotates freely
on a 316 stainless steel shaft and has aerofoil shaped blades to extend the dynamic range of the
meter. Other is an features include:
• Meters that contain two sensors, one self-powered (for battery operated equipment) and the
other an open collector transistor.
• A body manufactured from AISI316 stainless steel and supplied with three meters of five-core screened instrument cable.
• Quick installation in pipes from 40 mm diameter up to 900 mm diameter.
An Inspection System on Cruise Control
Symetix has expanded its VeriSym® optical inspection systems for solid dose pharmaceuticals
and nutraceuticals with the introduction of two new features – Cruise Control and Counting.
Cruise Control precisely regulates VeriSym’s throughput, optimizing the inspection system to accurately remove defects and foreign softgels and tablets. The Counting tool eliminates the need
for a weigh scale by enabling VeriSym to fill bulk boxes/containers to the desired count, which
reduces capital costs, better utilizes floorspace and improves the accuracy of the count. These
software-driven capabilities are available as an option on all new VeriSym systems to verify product color, size and shape, identifying and ejecting defects and foreign softgels and tablets from
the product stream to ensure product quality.
